Marketing Ideas 5 – Create an article using the skyscraper technique

The skyscraper technique from Brian Dean at Backlinko is all about creating a great piece of content.

There is too much content out there that is drab and worthless. The skyscraper technique helps you create better content by having you find a popular piece of content in your space and making it way better.

Start making content your audience actually wants to read and people want to share.

Marketing Ideas 4 – Learn to A/B Test, Then A/B Test Something

A/B testing is a fancy way of saying split testing. It’s when you test a variable like two different headlines, and see which one does better based on certain metrics.

This is commonly done on landing pages, home pages, email subject lines, within emails, blog posts, etc.

This A/B Testing Guide from VWO will help get you started.

There are plenty of tools to use to try A/B testing like VWO and Optimizely.

Marketing Idea 2 – Create a content calendar

A content calendar is a calendar that displays what type of content you’re going to be posting and when.

It’s a great way to visually see what you’re going to be creating, that way you don’t have 3 posts coming up all around the same topic.

This also is a great organization tool to help keep you on track.

Buffer has a great article on content calendars which you can read here.

Marketing Idea 1- Add a social share bar

There are tons and tons of social share bar plugins for WordPress.

Here’s an article that goes through some popular ones.

I won’t recommend any specific one because they’re all quite similar.

The whole purpose is to have one that’s not too intrusive, but allows visitors to easily share articles and content from your site.

I’d recommend one that displays the number of shares a post has gotten, great social proof!

Just Marketing Ideas

I went on a 2 week trip recently, but before that I had just finished up a small project called Just Marketing Ideas. It’s a list of 100+ marketing ideas to get you thinking and help you try to come up with new strategies.

Some are simple like adding a social share bar and others are more in depth like interviewing your customers.

I’ll be posting the ideas on here, and you can see all of them if you click the “Marketing Ideas” link on the menu.
